One of the unique elements of the Spazio S2 is it’s utilization of La Spaziale’s patented steam control heat exchange system. Instead of running cold water through the boiler, the heat exchanger sits on top of the boiler and is fed by steam. La Spaziale argues that when cold water is added to a typical system, the temperature of the entire unit drops and can negatively impact your espresso results. Therefore, the steam fed system is considered to be a more effective method of heating since it creates more temperature stability and accurate temperature control.
Aesthetically, the S2 is a gorgeous machine. It is beautifully constructed of durable stainless steel panelling and features rotary knobs and programmable buttons for controlling your options. If you are looking to make a statement, you can even choose to outfit your S2 with an optional LED light surround. Additionally, the Spazio S2 includes a dual gauge display for boiler pressure and pump pressure, proportioned dose settings, an electric cup warmer, auto boiler refill, and a boiler heating element safety thermostat for extra peace of mind.
Another interesting inclusion for the Spazio S2 is its 53 millimeter portafilter basket. This particular basket is narrower and deeper than the standard 57 millimeter basket and it aims to achieve a better extraction by allowing water to pass through more coffee after tamping.
